Jeffrey S. Ziegelheim is a Partner with the firm of Dvorak & Associates, LLC. Jeff is engaged primarily in the defense of public employees. He concentrates his practice in the areas of disciplinary defense, criminal defense, pension appeals and section 1983 civil rights litigation. Jeff is admitted to practice in the State of New Jersey and the Federal District of New Jersey.
Jeff began his career in the Hudson County Prosecutor’s office, ultimately serving as Section Chief of the Hudson County Narcotics Task Force where he was responsible for the investigation, interdiction and prosecution of hundreds of cases under the Controlled Dangerous Substances Act. Jeff also served as counsel to the Homicide Squad, where he successfully prosecuted numerous murder cases, including two capital murder cases.
After leaving the Hudson County Prosecutor’s office, Jeff joined the Office of the Bergen County Prosecutor. Jeff served as Chief of the Confidential Investigations Unit, whose function it was to investigate and prosecute those individuals involved in political and government corruption. Jeff was further charged with the responsibility to oversee the sixty-nine municipal police agencies within the county. Jeff was promoted to the position of Deputy Executive Assistant Prosecutor and served as counsel to the County Prosecutor in all confidential matters.
Upon retirement from the Prosecutor’s Office, Jeff was tapped to become Bergen County Counsel wherein he was responsible for legal oversight of a workforce of over 2,400 persons, including a staff of seven attorneys.
Upon leaving government service, Jeff has spent the past 5 years bringing his experience to members of the community who can benefit from his exceptional experience. Jeff is actively accepting cases in his practice areas, and he is a member of the PBA’s Legal Protection Plan. Jeff received his Bachelor’s from George Washington University and his Juris Doctorate from the Benjamin Cardozo School of Law.
